City Of Hate ROUNDTABLE

City of Hate reveals what Dallas was like 60 years ago when President Kennedy was about to visit the city, told by people who lived there, including the filmmaker, who saw Kennedy just before the assassination, a documentary sixty years in the making.

Quin Mathews is a storyteller with over fifty years of experience in film, broadcasting, and journalism. For two decades he worked as a television news anchor and reporter and produced and hosted a radio show on the arts for twenty-five years.

Born in Dallas in 1950, he saw President Kennedy forty minutes before the assassination. That encounter and the shock of Kennedy’s death spurred a sixty-year quest to investigate the extremist political climate in 1963, and resulted in several stories and films. The most recent is “City of Hate: Dallas and the Assassination, Sixty Years Later,” which won critical praise when broadcast on PBS stations and screened at the Dallas International Film Festival (2024).
